The dinner this year is being hosted by American Society of Mechanical Engineers on behalf of the other major engineering societies in the region, including
the Society of Women Engineers, the International Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Society of American Military Engineers, the Professional Engineering Council, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
The speaker,
Dr. Frank Kreith, will discuss current fuel cell technology, past, present and future. You won't want to miss this talk. For more detailed information visit the Pikes Peak Section website at http://sections.asme.org/Pikes_Peak/ . The cost is $33 per dinner for professional members, $28 for students.

Irving Middle School: Irving Middle School is asking for several more engineers to speak about their careers to students in the Project Lead The Way Gateway to Technology pre-engineering classes during Engineers Week. The engineering areas covered by the pre-engineering classes are electrical, mechanical, industrial, aerospace, computer and civil engineering.
The plan is for two engineers to speak each day from 1:00 pm - 3:40 pm during three 50-minute periods in the Irving Middle School Library on either Wednesday, February 23rd; Thursday, February 24th; or Friday, February 25th. (Each engineer can speak for 20 - 25 minutes per period.) There will be approximately 60 students present during each period. Students will be writing reports that week about each type of engineer, so they should have a little knowledge about each type of engineering.
The teachers and students at Irving Middle School are very excited about having engineers visit and present at their school and see their new Pre-engineering Program. This would be a wonderful opportunity for us to encourage middle school students to take the math and science classes in middle school and high school that are necessary for a student to successfully major in engineering in college!
Irving Middle School is located at 1702 N. Murray Blvd. in Colorado Springs (on the west side of Murray Blvd. south of Constitution Avenue).
If you would like to volunteer to speak to these students, please send Connie King (connieking at
makhlaw.com):
-- your name;
-- telephone number;
-- engineering major;
-- a brief one-sentence description of your job; and
-- the date you would be available from 1:00 - 3:40 pm.
Thank you for your consideration!
