SWE-PPS and Cool Science will be hosting a Girl Scout badge event on Saturday May 8th Noon - 4 PM at the Air Force Academy Chemistry Lab on the AFA campus.

Fifth, sixth, and seventhy grade Girl Scouts will be conducting experiments and attending a 'magic show' to earn a large, lovely, and colorful Cool Science GS Patch showing a lab-coated girl obviously working in a chemistry lab.

We will be directing the CSI 'Who Killed the Principal's Dog?' program where the girls collect footprint, handwriting, and poison samples from the crime scene and try to match them with samples from the suspect's offices. The girls will learn how to do an ink pigment spectra, soil gradient, and chemical reaction analysis and to report their findings as a team. They will also get to interview the suspects.

You may still volunteer to help the girls with experiments and 'act' as suspects. Carole has done this several times, and had great fun every time, and the girls had more fun than she did! This is an excellent age group to get excited about science! And the Cool Science patch is, well, COOL!

RSVP to Kathleen Watson 719-273-1242.
