Happy 2004!
I hope all of you are getting off to a good start this year. PPS has some exciting events coming up very soon. This month we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our charter. We have come a long way and done some great service for the community in those ten years. I look forward to the next ten as an active member, and I hope that improvements in the local economy will allow our membership to grow.
The Region I Conference, with its variety of professional and community topics, is our big event for February. Since it will be held at UCCS, this is a bargain for PPS members! The committee has worked very hard to ensure the topics represent timely information, so please send in your registration before sessions fill. I am privileged to be a speaker and very excited about the other sessions I will attend.
National Engineers Week is always a good time for reflection and a great excuse to get out and spread the word about engineering careers. Some companies provide materials for presentations and the national website ( http://www.eweek.org/ ) features hands-on activity guides and an article highlighting the changing attitudes towards women in engineering. Please contact any of the officers if you would like advice on topics or need assistance finding a school to visit.
Best Regards,
Kathleen Watson
Thursday, January 29th is the 10 year anniversary of the signing of our section's charter. We are celebrating by having a birthday party and celebration.
Please join us in recognizing all that's been accomplished by our section over the years. We will be getting together from 5:30pm - 8pm at Merrill, Anderson, King & Harris at 20 Boulder Crescent, Colorado Springs. Please RSVP with Connie King at 633-4421.
The Region I Conference registration has been extended and is still open. Please see the website at www.swe-pps.org/regionconf. There you can find information on the programs, sponsorship, and registration materials.
The Region I Conference is being hosted this year by the UCCS Student Section in coordination with our very own professional section.
